Sayonara Sabatiello's

Well, it's official: the Advocate is reporting that Sabatiello's is no more (here's the article). I wonder where they heard about its possible demise...hmm...

They did mention us in the article, referring to how Sammy "stirred gossip among local food bloggers."

Some other highlights:
- "The right person with the right concept, other than another Italian restaurant, will do very well there."

- Sammy owes someone their deposit for a Christmas party. Yeah, good luck with that.

Oddly enough, Sabatiellos.com is still active as of December 10. At least somebody's getting paid by Sammy.

PS - website are usually paid ahead of time , so depending on the length of the contract, the site will be up - unless he owes them money and hasn't told thwm...then it gets hacked.

"National television exposure could not save a financially challenged Stamford restaurant."

I think national television was the final nail in the coffin . . .

The restaurant closed so quickly after the broadcast that I almost wondered if Sabatiello wasn't contractually obligated to stay open until the broadcast of the episode. Perhaps part of his coin didn't arrive until his act hit the airwaves...

simply - no loss to me and I think it was a requirement. His club business didn't help him either.

What a picture on the website! What a gorgeous spot that was!

Just too damn bad the owner couldn't have pulled his head out of it and put some decent food on the table.
