In a study by the University of Warwick (Davis) in England to determine the happiest states, out of the fifty states and the District of Columbia, the Nutmeg State comes in 50th! Yay for us! CT came in just ahead of...drumroll, please...my home state of New York!
So here's my scientific experiment:
Why is JR so cranky?
Hypothesis:
He's cranky because he's lived in the two least-happy states his whole life.
Data:
He's cranky.
He's lived in the two least-happy states his whole life.
Conclusion:
He's so cranky because he's lived in the two least-happy states his whole life. And he wasted all that money on therapy when it was New York and Connecticut's fault the whole time!

This editor sure likes digging up studies about how happy people are. Or how happy people were when the data was collected before Katrina, before the election, before the economy shit the bed, and et cetera (Louisiana and Mississippi being in the top 10 makes sense, all of a sudden).
CT and NY rank 19th and 35th, respectively in the other "study" with Utah taking top honors. Utah!
This goes to show that a scientific approach sucks, just flat out sucks, when you're trying to figure out something so clearly subjective as happiness. Who's funding this nonsense?
Nobody knows the good ol' US of A like British researchers. I dunno - I've lived in Ct and worked in Ny and my glass remains half full.
