Having shared this particular dining experience with JR, I can tell you that it was the first time I've ever seen him on the verge of admitting something was too spicy for consumption. But despite the tears in his eyes, he soldiered on.
My chili chicken was a couple of notches less spicy but exceptional tasty.
I'm a huge fan of Tawa. I have also had the phal (lamb) and loved it through all the sweat and tears. Every time I've tried to order something extra spicy at another Stamford Indian restaurant, I was sorely dissappointed.
When I go to most Indian restaurants, I tell them not to dull the spice (which they tend to do for the American palate). At Tawa, no such request was necessary. The phaal was outrageously hot and delicious.
And these weren't tears, that was ice melting off my eyes from the sub-zero temperatures. I can't do this cold anymore!
