People need to relax

Things people complained or ranted about that turned out to be fine (or at least not that big a deal):
  • Chopping down the cherry trees in Mill River Park
  • Making Spring Street a two-way street
  • New city trash cans
  • Trump Parc
  • 5-cent deposit on water bottles in CT
Discuss.

Trump Parc is an eyesore and on most nights appears to be almost completely empty. I would not say that turned out well.

Mill River Park is a mess, but the landscaping problems have nothing to do with the cherry trees.

Mill Park looks like such a waste land it is horrible I drive by it every day.

I find it funny that the people who want to restore the Mill River to its natural state are now complaining about all the weeds along its shore.

Didn't think Spring St. was a debate. It was 2-way up until about 10 years ago.

Trump Parc's timing was bad, to say the least. I also don't like the giant box that makes up the first six or so floors; I wish they had made the whole building match the shape of the upper floors. Heck, it's the only construction project to actually be completed in Stamford recently! Sure, I wish they would build more middle-income-priced housing here, but unfortunately, land and construction costs are so high that they have to aim for the mega-bucks buyers just to turn a profit.

Mill River Park is a mess right now, but it's a work in progress, people! When they announced plans to redo the whole park, everybody came out of woodwork saying that they enjoyed driving past it. What the heck good is a PARK if everybody just drives past it?? The goal is to make it a park where people walk, congregate and play.

As for Spring Street, there were some letter to the editor and Topix posts (yes, I know) about how it will be a NIGHTMARE and pedestrians will be KILLED because they won't be expecting the two-way traffic. Sheesh!
