Bye-bye Fireside, hello Houlihan's

Well, it's official: Houlihan's, the original generic uber-chain, has invaded our fair city. Here's the Advocate article.

What's next, Denny's? Waffle House?? BOB EVANS????

Anyway, I don't think Capriccio is scared of losing any business to Houlihan's. Personally, I can think of a bunch of places I'd rather spend my dining dollars...I'm not hatin', I'm just sayin'.

There used to be a Houlihan's in Boston. I was not impressed. I would rather have a Chili's (c'mon, who doesn't love a presidente margarita!).

Went last night and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The blackened chicken quesdilla and sliders were far better then anything I have had at SBC, Black Bear, Bradford's or Brickhouse. I will certainly go back.

Not bad, I like it. Never been to one before.

affle House is a wonderful place to meet felons on work release.

I'd say probably not a perfect Fairfield County fit.

Having no desire to cook after driving home after the Thanksgiving holiday, we had dinner at Houlihan's last night.

It was pretty good ... nice space, wide variety of menu options, generous servings, and reasonable prices.

This isn't a great location, but its casual "upscale" family-friendly approach targets a market segment that is largely under served in the FC.

If anyone plans to try it out, you can join the email club online and immediately receive a coupon for a free appetizer...

I tried as well (needed to get out of the rain and in front of the giants game)

I thought it was pretty good for what it was. While unlikely, my hope is it helps put one or more of the mall plaza joints out of business. Service & food at those places is at a Sabatiello level.

I think it's funny how Sabatiello's is now the low-bar standard for food in this town. I say we use phrases like "That place is so Sabatiello's" until they enter the local lexicon.

OK, we ate at Houlihan's last night and I admit that I was pleasantly surprised. I had the lettuce wrap appetizer and my wife had the rare tuna won tons, and both were very tasty! My memories of Houlihan's had it as a cross between Applebee's and a fried food truck, so I was glad to see they've classed up the joint. It has a very mellow atmosphere, a nice waitstaff and some interesting menu selections. B+

I went to Houlihan's last night. I was very impressed. The decor was very modern with an open kitchen. The food was very tasty. I had the tuna wontons and a Tilamook burger - both were great. Great bar. I will be coming back.
