You heard it here first! Gene Wilder, legendary movie actor and arguably Stamford's most famous resident, has declared that he will challenge Mayor Michael Pavia in the 2014 election. Mr. Wilder hasn't made a formal announcement yet, so how do I know this?
Well, I bumped into him at Kotobuki and asked him an about this year's Wilder's Picks at the Avon. After a little small talk, he said, "Oh, by the way, I'm going to run for mayor. Someone's got to clean up this town, and who better than The Waco Kid?" At first I thought he was joking, but then he started explaining his platform. He said that, if elected, his administration would focus on crime-solving, the arts (theater in particular), science, and the local food scene.
Mr. Wilder is the latest famous actor to take the leap into politics, following in the footsteps of Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Al "Grandpa Munster" Lewis.

OK it's April Fool's right??
Bobby Valentine would argue the "most famous resident" part because he does live in his own world.
