Get excited for Ethopian food!

First we lost Galangal.  Then Egané, followed by Plateau, Chinese Mirch, Rodizio Grill, Saigon Cafe, and the incredible Kit's Thai Kitchen.  Restaurants that feature interesting and different food seem to have short lifespans here, but, alas, there's hope!  Teff is coming soon!  They're going to serve Ethiopian and Eritrean food right across from Mill River Playground.  Ethiopian food is hard to describe, but it's probably unlike anything you've had before.  I love the meat dishes served extra spicy.  I'll definitely write a mouth-watering post about Teff once they're up and running!

Tried Ethiopian in New Haven once. It was interesting, not worth driving 45 minutes for, but if it's in Stamford I'd give it a shot to try again, even though that's bordering on the sketchy side of town. Please also let us know how the parking situation is there.

Hi there!

My name is Elsa Mekonen and I am the Operations Manager at Teff! I recently came across your post and I am excited that you are excited for some great Eritrean and Ethiopian food.

We will be opening on Thursday, July 30, 2015. You can visit us at www.teffrestaurant.com for more information or send me an email if you have questions.

There is plenty of street parking up and down West Main Street/Mill River Street adjacent to the playground and park. We also have a lot less than 500 feet away.

Also, give the West Side a try, it's not sketchy. It's not a super polished downtown Stamford, but it's a wonderful neighborhood that has been kind and safe for us as we've previously owned a business and the building across from the Mill River Playground for 15+ years. Come down and give it a try, you won't regret it.

Hope to see you soon!
