South End Police HQ?

While driving around the South End, I came upon this forgotten relic at Pacific and Market Streets:

It's an abandoned police station (obviously), but one with a misleading blue police sign on the post out front. How old is this building? When did the Stamford Police last staff the booking desk? Are there any future plans for its reuse?

Here's a picture taken through dirty glass of a beautifully painted Stamford Police shield:

It looks like BLT owns it, since there's a letter posted inside the front door from 2009 asking the second-floor tenant to kindly contact BLT management. It would be a shame to lose another historic or even semi-historic building in Stamford. Maybe they can turn it into apartments (luxury, of course!) like the former NYPD headquarters at 240 Centre Street. $4,000,000 to live down the street from Fairway? Sold!

Um, last time I checked, its not abandoned. They still use it as a substation, believe it or not.

...or if they don't use it anymore, it was within the last year or so.

The last time I was in there, it was just mostly a place for them to stop in and catch up on paperwork, etc.

You couldn't just walk in and file a complaint or whatever. Or maybe you could, but I don't think it was staffed according to a regular schedule.

7 Market Street is still listed as a Central District substation on the SPD Web site.

And if you go to Google streetview, you can see two SPD squad cars parked out front.

It sure looked empty to me. If it's still used occasionally, what would BLT have to do with the second floor? Would SPD rent out office space?

The city doesn't own any of the substations, they are all donated spaces. I think.

Its not being torn down - it's being marketed as retail space by BLT. They'll probably renovate once they have a tenant.

BLT is looking for a "high-end" office tenant before it begins rehab.

BLT will not fix it up nor do they talk care of it. They get payed to but do not. BLT does not fix any of there biulding, roof leaks in most of them a/c promblem in all of them toilets that leak and they caulk it up. They just patch up things and make the tenant pay. Engeneering department witch none of them are has never done this kind of work before and needs a good lead person that knows what he is doing.
