Know what's growing on Forest Street?

You know that nicely renovated building on Forest Street across from the Unitarian Universalist Society?

Depending on how long you've lived in Stamford, you may know it as the old grocery store or the old baby furniture store. Either way, its current incarnation is pretty cool, with retail on the ground floor and apartments above.

However, the signature aisle signs reveal that the ground-floor retail will be Stamford's 467th CVS location. Yay. Just what no one asked for, another CVS.

I guess it's good to have a convenient place to shop downtown aside from bodegas, but I'll tell you who's probably pretty peeved about this: the non-chain drug store that opened not long ago two doors up from the Avon. Sheesh.

well, you can hope that the ugly rite aid next to the police station up the street on bedford kicks the can. once that building is empty, maybe the bull dozer wont be too far behind.

I need that to be a J. Crew store. I'm serious.

Um...isn't there a J. Crew in the Town Center? :)

Dude - if you live downtown like I do you are really excited about this. We need more convenience retail to walk to. When this and the Keyfood Mart open it will add more to the downtown for residents than any outdoor concert, arts and crafts fair, etc

Also - the good thing about this chain in this building - its just programming. the CVS didn't determine the building form, its still a good attractive building that adds to the downtown. One day that CVS could move out and something else could easily move in. Not the case with that shit up in Bulls Head.

Yeah, I know it's a good thing overall, but it's still annoying to see yet another CVS after that Bull's Head abomination.

Key Food will also be a long-overdue boon to downtown, but I'm sure the city would love for a bigger store to be a part of one of the future projects like the Ritz or Tresser Square.

that Key Food was supposed to go in where Rite Aid and later Family Dollar was in Prospect Street, but I'm sure Key Food abandoned their plans long ago. Also, that small office building between Family Dollar and 100 Prospect Street has been abandoned for a while. Maybe that whole west side of Prospect Street between the Congregational Church parking lot and 100 Prospect should be turned into a condo or something.

Key Food is coming where the Family Dollar Store was. I walked past there this morning. The sign is on the building. Key Food really should be in a bigger building. And CVS definitely is coming to Forest Street.
